Do I Suck at SEO? Abso-floggin’-lutely!
In fact, when people ask me about my “rank” in the search engines, I have to shrug and say, “I dunno. I just type in my site name and it comes up in the first page or so in the results. Is that good?”
… Queue laughter from the SEO experts here …
Hmmm. So yeah, I definitely suck at SEO. Don’t know my metas from my alts, and frankly, I don’t think it’s something I want to learn. Scary stuff, SEO.
Then yesterday, a friend of mine asks me to read through a “short guide” she’s put together about SEO. She didn’t ask for a review or anything…just wanted me to read it, to see if it “made sense” to the absolute SEO beginner (which she knows I definitely AM).
It was good.
I could actually understand it, for the most part. It weren’t loaded with so much tech-speak I couldn’t wrap my head around the “concept” of search engine optimising my stuff, and by the time I was done skimming through it (I didn’t even “read” it all in-depth) I was thinking I could probably handle some SEO tasks of my own…now that I knew what the heck they were.
She has things laid out in step-by-step order too, so you can just do one thing at a time (thank goodness!) and not get all bogged down with trying to backlink when you should be doing a little simple research on a few words related to your site and pages.
By the time you’ve gone through the thing, Bamm! Your stuff’s all optimised for a great big glob of Google lurve (and other search engine love too!)
Anyway, if you wanna check it out, it’s called SEO STRAIGHT UP and you can get it from here. Who knows? Maybe you’ll read it and use it and start getting your pages ranked at the top of the search engine page pile?
Okay, I’m back to writing…
