Follow Up: Tony Robbins, Frank Kern, and John Reese Video – What Was The Question?
I had to go back and re-watch the video with Tony, Frank, and John this morning because somewhere along the way, I think myself and the great folks who responded to my post yesterday either forgot or lost track of the original question Frank and John asked of Tony Robbins.
Just for the record, that question was NOT “Why aren’t people succeeding in this (IM) industry?”
I wouldn’t even have written this post today but I believe the question they actually DID ask has been ignored or misconstrued, and I felt it needed to be pointed out what Frank and John wanted to know when they went to visit Tony in his hotel.
So…what was that question?
It was: “What needs to happen, what kind of shift needs to happen to get people to follow through…to get people to actually USE the products?”
I think it bears pointing out that these guys weren’t saying there was anything missing in their products or the level of their support. They weren’t even saying people who bought their products found them confusing or difficult to follow. What they were saying is they’d noticed a large portion of people who purchased never even read the manuals or watched the videos.
They weren’t asking Tony why people weren’t succeeding with their stuff at all. Instead, they were asking how they could get those folks who bought their stuff to actually “crack the cover” of the guides.
Personally I can’t imagine purchasing a $2000 product and using the box for a nightstand. But then, I’m an information hog. I love to learn about new stuff that interests me.
But in more than one of Frank’s videos (if I’m not mistaken about the count there) Frank mentioned a couple “success stories” of guys who admitted they’d made the money they made just using the first little part of his course…they never even READ the rest of the stuff in his program.
Another thing I want to mention is that Tiffany Dow did post a follow-up video as well. You can watch it here. I did, and it helped me to better understand what she was trying to get across with her first video.
Tiff is a great lady, BTW. She’s genuine, and she sincerely wants to help people, too. But she’s just one woman and there’s just no way she can do it all by herself, right?
So anyway, in her follow-up video, Tiffany explains she was simply offering a potential solution for Frank and John by saying, “It could be that people aren’t following through and making it to success because maybe they need special hand-holding to get through the one or two “tight spots” or “technical areas” that send their minds flying through “I can’t do this!” land.
Appreciate that follow-up to your video, Tiff.
Stew: in your response you said, “Here’s what’s held me back so far – a lack of focus.”
Welcome to my world!
Can I tell you a little story? Once upon a time…actually it was a few years ago, I asked the question “how do you maintain focus?” on the Warrior Forum. Now, I’ve got six kids. I’ve written two fiction novels. So obviously I could maintain focus occassionally, right?
At the time, I was asking the question because Gary Halbert had told me if I’d write a book about what people really want, he’d help me sell it. I had the book mapped out in my head, but I just wouldn’t make myself sit down and get it written so I could send it to him. I’ll never forget this.
Anyway, I thought about focus. I studied it carefully within myself. And then I wrote a guide on it…Maintain Your Focus. The trick I discovered was to create distraction busters and focus habits…and to sit down and “just do it.”
That guide was my first non-fiction guide. I was very proud to have written it. And you know something else? I like being able to say, “I wrote the book on maintaining focus!” Haha. I’d be happy to send you a copy if you think it would help you. Email me and let me know.
In your response, you also said: “I especially love a lot this public statement of yours: “How can I say all this when I myself am no John Reese, or Frank Kern, or Tony Robbins although I definitely will be in a like position of success someday soon? Because it’s me…”"
I know why I haven’t “made it” yet. It’s because (and many thanks to my friend Jes, who pointed this out to me) I’m lazy. Plain and simple.
You might think I’m nuts for admitting that on a public blog, but it’s the truth, and I’m nothing if not honest with myself. I mean, if you can’t even be honest with your own self, you’re in big trouble… in my book, anyway.
Here’s why I’m mentioning my, er…, laziness.
I mention it because although I’m smart, I’m a research nut, I love learning new things and DO learn them, I know (because I’ve learned) all the things I NEED to know to be successful…I don’t do the work required.
When my friend Jes casually told me I wasn’t a millionaire because I was lazy, I cried for days. Yeah, it’s a girly thing. I squalled like a baby. Spent days self analysing me, digging deep to unearth the truth.
WAS I lazy? Unfortunately, the answer was Yes. She was right.
BUT…and this is a “big” but…just because I’d realized this about myself (finally!) didn’t mean I had to STAY lazy. And that bit is what had me thanking my friend for dishing up a healthy dose of reality for me.
Now, I know what my problem is, I can defeat it. Which is why I made the statement in the other post that I would soon become a success.
I will. I’m determined. I already know how. I have done the studying. I have learned the “techy” bits. I can handle the job. I do want it. And so I will make it. I know I will. I’m certain.
And so can you.
